GAA legend Tommy cooks up some excitement for chef Paul

IT’S not every day you would find a chef in Kerry turning up for work in a Dublin jersey – most of them have better taste – but in the case of Killeen House Hotel head chef Paul O’Gorman an exception can be made.

Paul is a passionate Dubs supporter who has been making the most of the bragging opportunities his heroes have afforded him over the past six seasons.

And he was absolutely delighted in recent days to get the opportunity to cook for a True Blue legend.

Three-time All-Ireland winner and four-time All-Star Tommy Drumm and his family were guests at Killeen House last weekend and, knowing there was a GAA-mad Dub in the kitchen, the former star defender surprised Paul with signed copies of the autobiographies of the darling of Hill 16 Bernard Brogan and the popular Jason Sherlock.

A delighted Paul couldn’t wait to get out of the kitchen and go home to get started on the sporting memoirs which will have pride of place in his bookshelf.

This is the culinary master father-of-four 25th season in Killeen House and Rozzers Restaurant and whenever the opportunity arises to put the blue of Dublin on his back for big match days, he seldom neglects his sporting loyalties.

And just as Paul O’Gorman remains a massive admirer of Tommy Drumm’s footballing prowess, it can now be said that the legendary centre back, who was footballer of the year in 1983, is also a huge fan of Paul O’Gorman’s cooking.

The Dubs have a habit of sticking together.
