The funeral arrangements for the man who lost his life in a road crash in Cromane on Sunday have been announced.
Patrick Murphy of Upper Tullig, Killorglin, and formerly of Tyramoyle, Caherciveen, lost his life when his bicycle was in a collision with a van on the Killorglin to Cromane road.
Mr Murphy, who was affectionately known as Elvis and was aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
He is survived by his wife Jackie, sister Mary, brothers Mike and Brendan, nephews, niece, grandnieces, grandnephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family, many friends and work colleagues at Jack Foley’s in Killorglin where he was hugely popular with customers.
Reposing on Wednesday at Flynn’s Funeral Home Killorglin from 4.30pm to 7.30pm will be followed by removal on Thursday morning from Flynn’s Funeral Home to the Star of the Sea Church, Cromane for Requiem Mass at 10.30am.
Burial will take place afterwards in Reilig Réalt na Mara, Cromane.
Gardaí, meanwhile, are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything that might have been connected to the collision on Sunday to contact them.
Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – and who were travelling on Killorglin to Cromane Road, between 8:20am and 9am, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
