Funding for arts can benefit communities

Funding is provided to arts events and activities across the county

Kerry Council County has invited applications for funding from artists, arts festival, arts events and groups, communities, schools and organisations planning arts activity for 2024.

Funding is provided to arts events and activities across the county each year and last year  more than 40 groups and artists were granted funding for a wide range of events.

Mayor of Kerry, Cllr Jim Finucane, said: “There is great benefit to our communities brought to us by creativity and work of artists, arts festivals an events. This funding is very important to support the arts sector”.

Individual artists looking to develop their practice or further arts education or attend an artists’ retreat are encouraged to apply for the bursaries. Schools are encouraged to team up with artists and apply for the bursaries for arts projects while the Eamon Kelly Bursary is open to artists of all disciplines in the Killarney Municipal District.

Kate Kennelly, Art Officer with Kerry County Council, is urging artists and arts groups to get their applications in now for projects and activities taking place in 2024. The closing date in January 18.

“If you are planning an arts event or activity in 2024 don’t let this funding opportunity pass you by,” she said.

The applications forms are available on the Kerry County Council website on arts.kerrycoco.ie
