Funding being sought to construct new footpath

The junction exiting from Aghadoe at Madam’s Height

Ongoing concerns about the long-awaited construction of a footpath at Aghadoe in Killarney have again been highlighted by Cllr Brendan Cronin who asked for a progress report on the matter.

He said, for public safety reasons, a pavement is badly needed to connect the new housing development at Madam’s Height with the existing footpath at the N22 junction with Cleeny.

Cllr Cronin was told that agreement has been reached, in principle, with the landowner involved for the acquisition of land to provide a footpath at the location.

Cllr Brendan Cronin: Highlighted need for footpath

The Killarney Municipal District Council office is currently actively seeking funding to provide the infrastructure in question.

Cllr Cronin also asked if any progress had been made regarding the proposed connection of Birch Hill and the Old Killarney Village in Aghadoe to the Killarney sewerage scheme?

Council officials said there has been no update on the matter from either the department or Uisce Éireann.

A progress report has again been sought from Uisce Éireann and their response is awaited.
