PETROL and diesel prices are still on the increase in Killarney.
A spot check at 10 local filling stations this week confirmed that seven of the premises had hiked their charge for both diesel and petrol by two cent per litre since the last KillarneyToday.com survey in July.
Two more increased by one cent for both petrol and diesel while at one filling station the price of diesel rose by three cent per litre.
Our latest on-the-spot inspection, carried out on Wednesday afternoon, shows that there was a difference of three cent per litre between the highest and lowest prices for petrol with a whopping five cent per litre difference between the highest and lowest prices for diesel.
With greater competition at the pumps in Killarney, there is better value on offer for motorists prepared to shop around.
The Killarney prices do not compare favourably with many other parts of the country and, for example, KillarneyToday.com this week checked several filling stations in Dublin where prices were 126.9 for petrol and 113.9 for diesel.
The KillarneyToday.com Wednesday spot check revealed that Hegarty’s on Muckross Road was the cheapest for both petrol (131.9) and diesel (117.9).
Interestingly, with four Topaz filling stations in the town, the prices were not the same in all of them with one charging a cent per litre less for petrol than the other three and two cent per litre less for diesel.
The prices featured here were displayed on the pumps or on the promotional signs in the fuel station forecourts.
