THEY’RE building up an appetite to tuck into a feast of wriggly worms, munchy maggots and slimey snails.
They’re bracing themselves for a close encounter with a giant snake, they’re preparing to be buried alive and it’s gloves off as they dip their hands into hidden buckets of guts, slime and God only knows what.
It’s time for Killarney version of I’m a Celeb…Get Me Out of Here – and excitement is reaching fever pitch.
The big fright night promotion will take place in the INEC, Killarney this Thursday and funds raised during the fun and games will go to the Stephen Lyne Foundation and the Kerry Stars Special Olympics Club.
A dozen game but terrified individuals will enter the celeb camp to be subjected to a gruesome ordeal involving insects, snakes, hell hole confinement and gourmet critter munching and it will certainly be no place for the faint-hearted – or those with weak stomachs.
Those seeking to be crowned king or queen of the jungle include Killarney Legion chairman Enda Walshe, physiotherapist Ruth Allen, DJs Gavin O’Leary and Brendan Fuller, politician Michael Healy-Rae, graphic designer Emma Philips, hairstylist Sean Taaffe, teachers Leah Tobin and Mary Brosnan, school principal Rory D’Arcy, game-for-a-laugh Mags Harty and All-Star goalkeeper Brendan Kealy.

They will be subjected to nine testing and uncomfortable tasks to determine who will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle.
Kerry Rose Breda O’Mahony and Mary O’Brien of the Kerry Stars will also join in the fun.
A huge crowd is expected to watch the dirty dozen being put through hell and the audience will get an up close view of the action through two giant screens located beside the stage.
The show will commence at 8.00pm and tickets, priced at €20, will be available at the door or in advance from the the INEC box office, the Kerry GAA Store, Who’s 4 Shoes or Eason.
