FRIENDS and neighbours of a young Killarney woman, who is fighting for her life after a horrific road crash in Spain, have helped her family to set up a fundraising account to offset some of the enormous medical and travel expenses being incurred.
21-year-old Louise Lynch, from Radrinagh, Spa, sustained massive injuries when the car in which she was a passenger was involved in a collision in Badajoz, South West Spain, on February 24.
She suffered serious cranial and abdominal injuries and several fractured bones in the crash in which one person died and three others were injured. Louise and two pals were returning from a day out when the accident happened. A woman in the other car died in the crash and there were five people injured in total.
Popular Louise remains in a critical condition in the intensive care unit of Infanta Christina Hospital in Badajoz.
The bright and bubbly Killarney woman has been teaching English in Spain for the past year having graduated with a degree in Business and Spanish from UCC. She is a former pupil of Tiernaboul National School and St Brigid’s Presentation Secondary School in Killarney.
Louise is the cherished eldest child of Seamus and Nora Lynch and a wonderful big sister to Marie and James.

Dad Seamus is originally from Milltown-Castlemaine and mum Nora (nee Buckley) has lived all her life in Spa. They have been maintaining a vigil at Louise’s bedside in Spain since the devastating news of the accident was broken to them.
Her sister, Marie (19) is studying nursing in UCC and brother, James (17) is preparing to sit his Leaving Cert in St Brendan’s College.
A talented musician, in her teenage years Louise played football with Spa, competed with Spa-Muckross in Community Games and she was an accomplished dancer with the Sheehan Murphy School of Dancing.
Family friend and neighbour, Anne Holland, remarked: “Louise, with her long, red hair and tall stature, is a beautiful girl with a great sense of humour and she has a very energetic personality.”
“Her students in the primary school miss her dearly along with her friends and family, both at home and abroad”.
An online GoFundMe account, under the name Louise Lynch Hospital Fund, has been set up to help the family with the huge medical expenses involved, including travel and accommodation costs in Spain.
Any donation, however small, would be greatly appreciated and pledges can be made online on the GoFundMe account.
