Fr Kevin: fond farewell

FR Kevin McNamara, who has just left the parish for a new ministry in Moyvane, has expressed immense gratitude to everybody who made his last Mass in Gneeveguilla and the party, celebrations and presentations in the GAA hall afterwards, such a fantastic success.

He said the generosity shown has been simply overwhelming with gifts, good wishes and, above all, the huge number of people that filled Gneeveguilla Church to capacity.

“They have taught me so much. All those who spoke on the evening spoke eloquently and lovingly and their words and sentiments touched me deeply,” he said.

He said the locals would always be in his prayers and remembered in his Masses.

Meanwhile best wishes to Fr Patrick McCarthy, PP Ballydesmond, on his retirement and best of luck to Fr Gerard O’Leary, PP Milltown, who will become chaplain at Kerry General Hospital. Fr O’Leary and Fr McCarthy are both natives of Headford.

We wish the best of luck to Fr Joseph Tarrant who has become administrator of Ballydesmond and is helping out in parish of Rathmore, Gneeveguilla, Knocknagree and Shrone.
