Four Kerry students have won top prizes in this year’s Texaco children’s art competition.
They are Rose Onlova (age 10), a pupil at Holy Cross Mercy School, Killarney and Mercy Mouthhawk Seconday School, Tralee pupils Nicole Ladjuscenkova (13), Jolin Weng (15) and Esha Shet (15) .

All were winners of special merit awards for artworks that the final adjudicator, Irish visual artist, curator and educator Pauline O’Connell, said displayed high levels of skill and creativity.
No stranger to the competition, Jolin Weng also won a special merit award in 2023.

The competition, in its 71st year, is popularly regarded as the longest-running sponsorship in the history of arts sponsoring in Ireland, with an unbroken history that dates back to the very first event held in 1955.
This year, as has been the case throughout its life, it has been a platform on which young artists from Kerry and counties throughout Ireland have had their talents recognised and their creativity commended.
