A TALENTED group of young musicians from the Killarney parish of Fossa will carry Kerry hopes in the All-Ireland finals of this year’s Community Games.
The Under 14 mixed group hit the high notes to seal first place in the qualifiers at the weekend.
The Fossa flagbearers were Maeve Bellew, Tova Buckley, Aoife Kissane, Tom Cahillane, Holly Kennelly and Rian Colleran and they wowed the adjudicators with a brilliant performance that earned them the county championship crown.
The Fossa school pupils are tutored by teacher Cathy Hayes who ensured they were fine-tuned – in no uncertain terms – to make their mark in the Kerry deciders held in Abbeydorney on Sunday.
They will now represent Fossa and Kerry in the prestigious national finals in Athlone on August 21 and hopes are high that another All-Ireland title could be on its way back to Killarney.
