A KILLARNEY teenager put his name on the Irish cycling map, in no uncertain terms, at the weekend when he won the first round of the Junior Leinster SuperCross series held at Grange Castle in Dublin.
16-year old, Ruari Coghlan, from Fossa, made his mark in the series of four events which is considered to be Ireland’s premier cyclocross series with venues in Dublin and Wicklow where the cyclocross discipline is quite strong.
Apart from his young age, Ruari’s win was notable for the definitive nature of his performance. He won by 15 seconds. from Lee Harvey, the current national champion, and he was 15th fastest in a field of 280 senior riders.
