HOLY holidays Batman: Robin is meeting up with new friends from Killarney.
Screen star Chris O’Donnell – who played Robin alongside George Clooney’s Batman and again played the role of the boy wonder alongside Val Kilmer – is currently enjoying a vacation in Ireland and is spending some time fine-tuning his swing on the golf course.
He was on the fairways in the Royal County Down – which has hosted both the Irish and British Open Championships – on Monday afternoon when he bumped into Killarney man Mike Courtney who was enjoying a round of his own.
They exchanged pleasantries and added to their Circle of Friends with a selfie before they went their separate ways and got on with their respective games.
Mike, the son of Sheila and the late Cllr Michael Courtney from Ardshanavooley in Killarney, is a member of An Garda Siochana based in Tralee and an avid golfer.
Chicago born actor O’Donnell (47) has a string of hit movies to his credit, including Scent of a Woman with Al Pacino, The Three Muskateers, Cookie’s Fortune and, of course, alongside Minnie Driver in Maeve Binchy’s hit rom-com Circle of Friends.
More recently he has had roles in a string of hit TV series including NCIS, Hawaii Five-O, American Dad and Grey’s Anatomy.
