Flashback Friday: Horsing around

fgwalk18Looking a gift horse in the mouth, Taoiseach Enda Kenny was happy to snap up every photo opportunity that came his way when he went walkabout in downtown Killarney way back in June 2004.

A master of the smiling snap, he is pictured here with a jarvey’s horse in the area known locally as the Ha-Ha as he sought support on the streets during the annual Daffodil Day fundraiser.

Mr Kenny spent half a day in Killarney with the candidates that were seeking support in that year’s local elections and with the FG flag on the rise, he was pleased that it was a flesh-pressing exercise that was very worthwhile.

But will the Taoiseach have cause to be beaming like a horse after Killarney has its say in today’s local and European polls? Or will it be a case of no-neigh-never for the FG leader as the results come flooding in?
