KILLARNEY will experience the reel deal this week as the town plays host to the 19th Kerry Film Festival which will run from Wednesday to Sunday, screening short and feature films from around the world along with national and regional short film programmes.
The festival, spearheaded by Artistic Director Maeve McGrath, will also host industry and networking events along with the annual awards ceremony.
The festival will present industry networking events to encourage film makers to network and to engage with industry professionals. On Friday next Film Network Ireland will bring a speed networking event, Coming down here, Watching all our Films to Killarney with film makers from around the world gathering to connect and network.

On Saturday 20, Festival Formula will present an event, You’ve made your film, now what? to help filmmakers understand the importance of festivals, the benefits they can bring and how best to prepare for the film festival circuit.
Panel discussions and conversation events will include working with children in film and a discussion on the making of documentary film called Building the Picture: Creating the Documentary, featuring Leslie Ann Coles (Melody Makers), Keith Walsh (When All is Ruin Once Again) and Moira Sweeney (Keepers of The Port) and director, Hugh O’Conor (Metal Heart) who will discuss his debut feature and more at a gathering in Killarney House.
The Kerry Film Festival, which opens on Wednesday night with the world premiere of Killarney director Damian O’Callaghan’s new production, Tradition, will present the Maureen O’Hara Award to Deirdre O’Kane at a special event on Saturday followed by the annual awards night event.
