A fundraising appeal has been launched to help a Killarney family who lost everything they owned when a fire ripped through their home earlier this month.
Derry and Linda Linehan of Killaha, Glenflesk, and their daughters, Lucy and Rose, had all their possessions destroyed in the blaze but they were relieved to escape with their lives.
The devastating fire occurred on the night of February 2 and it left the family home completely gutted and all their belongings – including the family car – were destroyed.
Now, to help the Linehan family in their hour of need, near neighbour Gillian Mac Eoin and others in the close-knit community have launched a GoFundMe appeal.
They have set a target of €50,000 and generous members of the public have already pledged almost €15,000.
“As a community we all want to help them to rebuild their house in the hope that they can return to Killaha again by Christmas time. Every little bit will help,” said Gillian.
