A FAMILY fun day and vintage car display, hosted by Ballinagree Vintage Club, has raised an impressive €1,000 for a great cause.

The event was organised by Peggy and Elizabeth Kelleher who are champion fundraisers for the Kerry branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of a family member who died of this dreadful disease.

They presented a cheque to Kerry MNDA chairman Christy Lehane, on behalf of the club, at a gathering in the Lane Bar in Ballinagree.

The charity expressed its gratitude to Ballinagree Vintage Club for the very generous contribution which will help fund specialist Motor Neurone Disease nurses and the provision of specialist medical equipment.

“It will enable Motor Neurone sufferers to spend the end of life in the comfort and dignity of their own homes. We are so grateful for receiving this huge cheque. Fundraising is never easy to do but it is very necessary as 86 per cent of the annual income of the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association relies on fundraising,” Christy said,

He expressed his thanks to Ballinagree Vintage Cub officers Flor O’Driscoll, Helen Spillane Rita O’Sullivan and committee for selecting Motor Neurone as the beneficiary.
