Emma Rose and Katlyn flew the green flag in Florida

Two participants from Killarney have impressed at the world cheerleading and dance championships held in Orlando, Florida.

Emma Rose Byrne and Katlyn Moynihan both represented Ireland at in the doubles performance cheer section and were placed sixth and 11th in the world in two different categories.

They said it was an honour to compete at the ESPN sports arena and represent Ireland.

Their coach, Hayley Murphy, of the Legacy Elite cheerleading and gymnastics club, said she is very proud of the girls’ achievements.

“Both girls have been training with me since childhood and to see them in their adult years performing on a world class stage representing their country is an absolute honor. It is also fantastic to see women achieving in sport,” she said.
