THE new owners of the history-steeped Cahernane House Hotel in Killarney have appointed a well-known local hotel personality as general manager.
Emer Corridan is extremely well known and respected in the industry, having worked for several years as the conference and banqueting manager in the Malton Hotel.
She will take up her new role in the coming weeks and colleagues in the industry said she has all the skills and experience required to give the landmark hotel a whole new lease of life.
The four-star Cahernane was sold for close on €3 million to the Prem Group, one of Europe’s leading hotel and tourism trade operators.
Set within its own private estate on the edge of Killarney National Park, the unique property was once the home to Herbert family, Earls of Pembroke, who were gifted estates, including Muckross, in the 17th century.
This 38-bedroom property is set in a grand 1870’s mansion, on beautifully manicured grounds, just 2km from Killarney on the main road to Muckross and Kenmare.
The Prem Group, with former Irish Hotels’ Federation President, Jim Murphy at its helm, now owns, leases and manages 44 properties across Ireland, the UK and Europe with 3,500 guest rooms and 1,500 employees.
