A TALENTED Kerry journalist has won a Justice Media Award in an initiative organised by the Law Society of Ireland.
Eamonn Hickson, from Annascaul, has been recognised for his work that contributes to the public’s understanding of legal issues and the courts system.
The Radio Kerry journalist won the Best Newcomer category for a series of court reports and he was presented with his award at Blackhall Place in Dublin.
Over 100 journalists gathered at the reception with 35 awards and merits presented to the winners.
In the citation, the judges said: “This reporter has already developed a distinctive voice in a well-established, award-winning newsroom, displaying particular strength in court reporting”.
They added: “Balancing complex and sometimes distressing detail with concise reporting, he also demonstrates a strong eye for the human impact of the courts system and its failings.”
The Justice Media Awards promote the highest standards in legal journalism and foster greater public understanding of the law, the legal system or any specific legal issue.
Award winner Eamonn last year also penned an exciting new novel in which three people plot to commit a terror attack.
In the Boston-based Terror, he invited readers to imagine the viewpoint of would-be terrorists.
He published two previous novels, The History Maker (2012) and Angel of Death (2013) and his latest work is the first of a planned trilogy.
