With the chronic lack of parking close by and the problem of vehicles getting stuck in the sand or caught when the tide comes in arising on a yearly basis, there has been a renewed call for action to tackle festering issues on Inch beach.

Cllr Michael D O’Shea

Cllr Michael D O’Shea has queried the apparent delay in a consultant preparing an infrastructural development plan for the beach with a focus on issues such as traffic management, parking, access, facilities and public realm.

He has been assured by Kerry County Council officials that a sum of €50,000 has been allocated for a project development measure under the outdoor recreation infrastructure scheme to facilitate the development plan for Inch.

Tender documents seeking an engineering consultant were published on the e-tenders website on October 7 and the successful candidate will be asked to concentrate on mobility, traffic and parking, pedestrian access, accessibility for all, beach facilities and public realm.
