Drivers urged to approach with caution

The road is down to one lane

MOTORISTS travelling on the road between Glenflesk and Barraduff, on the outskirts of Killarney, have been advised to proceed with caution following an incident in the area in the past hour.

It is understood that a cement truck overturned and traffic calming measures have been implemented while the matter is being tended to.

The road, which is narrow, is down to one lane and passers-by have contacted KillarneyToday.com to urge motorists approaching the area to slow down.

There has been a significant increase in traffic using the road this week with extensive works at the railway crossing at Minish, on the main Killarney to Glenflesk road.

Major traffic diversions have been in place on the main N22 Killarney to Cork road since Monday and they will continue until 4 o’clock this Friday afternoon.

Kerry County Council and Irish Rail are working together to tackle the uneven railway crossing, caused by railway track settlement, which has been the cause of repeated complaints from motorists and cyclists.
