Don’t waste chance to get some top tips

Yvonne Quill: This is a major issue for all

THE Killarney Looking Good Committee has issued a final reminder to householders and businesses in the town of an important workshop on reducing food waste that will be held this Tuesday night in Killarney Library (6.30pm).

Staged in association with the EPA Stop Food Waste Programme, the focus will be on reducing the amount of food waste being produced and some top tips and practical advice will be offered on the night.

“This is a major issue for all, particularly at this time of year, and all are welcome,” said Yvonne Quill of the Killarney Looking Good Committee.

The awareness campaign is built around a programme funded under the Environmental Protection Agency and managed by the Clean Technology Centre in Cork. Since 2009, the programme has worked with and supported communities and local authorities throughout the country on a range of initiatives to prevent food waste and promote home composting.

It aims to help householders to make the most of their food by providing information, tools and support materials, from good planning and shopping practices through to correct storage and reuse options.
