A Kerry company has been shortlisted for a sustainable rural innovation awards scheme which recognises individuals and organisations who have applied science and technology to help deliver the principles of climate-smart agriculture.
Dingle Sea Salt harnesses the natural elements to handcraft a natural, mineral-rich sea salt using a novel low-carbon approach that is unique in Ireland.
It is produced along the rugged Atlantic coast of the Dingle Peninsula by two friends – Moe McKeown and Tom Leach – who share a mutual passion for surfing and the environment.
The awards ceremony takes place as part of the ‘Finding Common Ground’ Festival on Friday, May 3 at the RDS in Dublin.
The event, which will focus on biodiversity and sustainability, will incorporate presentations and panel discussions exploring how Ireland can harness the benefits of our natural resources and the circular economy with a view to creating increased awareness, education and identification of solutions to act on.
Alongside this, a number of awards ceremonies will take place to celebrate best practice in these areas.
