WHEN the legs of a professional footballer and the feet of a dancer meet at the altar, it guarantees a pretty spectacular first waltz for the bride and groom.
And so it came to pass when dashing Killarney sportsman Diarmuid O’Carroll wed beautiful Riverdance star Anne Toner in sun-kissed Cyprus where they were surrounded by family and friends from home.
Diarmuid, from Ross Road, is a celebrated professional footballer who is currently the marquee player with Northern Ireland Premiership side Crusaders.
He recently inked a new two-year deal after a string of super performances with the high-flying NI pacesetters.
In a distinguished playing career, the much-travelled former Killarney Athletic underage star has also lined out for Glasgow Celtic, Ross County, Morecambe, Airdrie United, Icelandic side Valur and Glenavon.
Diarmuid (27), the son of well-known Killarney couple, Joe and Eileen O’Carroll, married Belfast beauty Anne Toner who is one of the stars of the international stage phenomenon Riverdance.
Their stylish wedding was celebrated in the plush five-star Grecian Park Hotel, in Protaras, Cyprus last week and a big contingent from Killarney partied in the sun.
Diarmuid’s old school pals from home, Jamie Wrenn and Dan “The Gun” O’Neill were groomsmen and his older brother, Anthony, jetted in from Perth to take up the bestman’s duties.
Diarmuid’s sister Edel, meanwhile, was bridesmaid along with Anne’s sisters.
Diarmuid and Anne were introduced, by chance, when he attended a performance of Riverdance.
