Denis joins hall of fame after over five decades on the road

A popular bus driver who has been hitting the road with great gusto since the early 1970s has been honoured by his former work colleagues who have inducted him into the company’s hall of fame.

Denis Lynch joined O’Callaghan Coaches in Killarney shortly after the company was formed by Jimmy and Lena O’Callaghan in 1969 and he remained behind the wheel, bringing great enthusiasm and professionalism to the role, for over five decades.

His former colleagues made a special presentation to the now retired coach driver at their Christmas staff party at Kate Kearney’s Cottage last Saturday night.

He joins Lena and Jimmy, who were both school bus drivers, in the O’Callaghan Coaches Hall of Fame.

Denis, from Beaufort, but was a very popular school bus driver in and around the Killarney area for many years. He was joined by his wife Peggy on Saturday night and Jimmy O’Callaghan was on hand to make the presentation of a slate clock, adorned with a special inscription.

Company director Philip O’Callaghan said: “This recognition celebrates his dedicated service to the company, an impressive commitment spanning five decades”.

He added: “Over this extensive period, Denis played a pivotal role in laying the foundation and shaping key aspects of the company culture, including work ethic and customer service”.

Philip made reference to consistent good-humoured approach adopted by Denis at allt imes.

“Denis Lynch’s lasting influence on the company is acknowledged as a key factor in the ongoing success that O’Callaghan Coaches enjoys and this acknowledgment underscores his substantial and enduring impact, destined to remain with the company forever,” Philip added.
