Winners alright in weekend shootouts

Deerpark had two days of competitions over the weekend, starting on Friday with the results as follows: Winners: Michael O’Connor, Adam Kelly and David O’Donnell, Runners-Up: Sean Ashe, Noel Moynihan and Eileen Switzer. On Sunday we had a two-ball event with the following results: Overall Nett: Sean Ashe and Mike ‘Seve’ O’Leary, Second Nett: John Murphy and Noel Moynihan and Gross: Michael O’Doherty and Sean Ashe.

It will be the same again this Sunday with draws at 9.15am and 11.15am. Entry €4 per player per draw with a fee of €7 for both draws open to club members aged 15 or over. A note to everyone interested to remember that the clocks will be going forward Saturday night so be wary of same.

Bob Casey: A final call for anyone interested in a second Bob Casey team to let us know by Friday next so we can meet the County Board’s deadline for same of this coming Sunday. Contact can be made through Competition Secretary Kieran Fitzpatrick. The tournament will be held on the Sundays of April 2 and April 9. The first weekend is in Listowel and Tralee with the second weekend in Deerpark and Castleisland. Further information next week.

Trials: The following are the dates agreed for Kerry Trials for all grades of teams, both male and female, in 2017: (i) Sunday, May 21 Castleisland; (ii) Sunday; May 28 Munster Strokeplay Qualifiers in Tralee; (iii) Sunday, June 11 County Strokeplay in Deerpark; (iv) Sunday, June 25 National Strokeplay Qualifiers in Listowel and (v) Sunday, July 23 Danny Broderick Memorial Castleisland Scratch Cup in Castleisland.

For all Munster teams four out of the five trials will count towards a player’s overall score with both Castleisland scores to count as it is host venue for Munster Inter-Counties this year.

For the National Inter-County team an extra 54-hole trial at the tournament venue Ryston in Newbridge will take place at a date to be confirmed. This trial, along with any four of the other five trials mentioned, will count towards a player’s overall score for same.

Membership: Sean Kelly (086-0508686) and Colm O’Dowd (087-7673742) are available for membership collection again this weekend. We ask anyone wishing to make an application to make contact with them regarding same.

Forms: Sheets for the Munster Mixed Foursomes and the National Ladies and Gents Matchplays are now up on the noticeboard. Please note new entry fees apply for competitions this year as per a PPUI levy place on all competition fees for redistribution amongst clubs hosting provincial and national events. All fees must be paid in advance of the closing date as no unpaid entries will be sent off by the club.

Fixtures: A full list of fixtures is now on the noticeboard. Please note our first 36-hole major takes place on Sunday. morning May 14

Predictor: We will be running our popular Sports Predictor fundraiser again this year with tickets priced at €10 each. They will be going on sale in the coming weeks with further information to follow.

Sem: Best wishes to the four St Brendan’s College teams who are travelling to Bruff next Friday, March 31, to take part in the Munster Schools event.

Crokes: Congratulations to our neighbours Dr Crokes on winning their second All-Ireland Senior Club title in Croke Park last Friday. Special mention to our former Registrar Alan Kelly and a former winner of our Juvenile Club Matchplay in Michael Moloney.
