A special GAA challenge in memory of a man who played a huge role in two clubs throughout his life has been arranged for this Saturday afternoon.
Dave Geaney was very active in the club in Brosna, his native place before he moved to Fossa when he married Helen Murphy of Grenagh.
He then became immersed in the local GAA club and played a very significant part in its progress over the years.
Dave was active as a player, selector and supporter and he willingly got involved in many Fossa club projects and initiatives
He passed away in November 2019 and his loss was greatly felt in his adopted parish and in his native village.
The pandemic curtailed the club’s plans to hold a memorial game in 2020 and 2021 and Fossa’s successful run in last year’s All-Ireland Junior Football Championship, coupled with the split season, hampered plans in 2022.
Now, however, a memorial game will go ahead at 2 o’clock on Saturday with the 2022 All-Ireland junior champs taking on 2015 kingpins Brosna at Fossa with the winners bringing home the Dave Geaney memorial trophy.
Refreshments will be served afterwards and everyone is welcome.
