THE dancing girls are fine-tuning their energetic routines and their dapper dance partners are getting in step for the eagerly awaited third annual Strictly Come Dancing spectacular in Killarney.
The gala event, in aid of the Killarney and South Kerry branch of the Irish Cancer Society, has been a huge hit over the past two years and the organisers are delivering another star-studded group of contestants on this occasion.
Participants this year will include well-known tourism advisor Rene Dooley, Glenflesk teacher and fitness coach Jennifer McCarthy, hair salon owners Marie Devane from Kilcummin and Deirdre Lyne from Killarney, Pat Sheahan Jnr from McSorley’s Nightclub and Padraig O’Connor from Gneeveguilla who works in Killarney with Liebherr Container Cranes.
Also taking to the stage will be Tracy Brosnan, Kathleen O’Donoghue, Denise Fogarty, Robert Lucey, Trevor O’Connor, Pat McGrath, Marion O’Shea, Timmy O’Connor, Kate Crowley, Jim Morris, Norma Lucey, Andrew O’Sullivan and John O’Donovan.
The theme this year will be Strictly Goes Back to the 80’s and it will take place in the INEC on Friday, February 10. Tickets for this year’s show are currently on sale for €20 or €10 for children under 12 and the night will include a wine reception and a raffle for some super prizes.
Last year’s Strictly stageshow raised a whopping €56,045 for the cause with dancers, choreographers and the backstage crew devoting several hours, over many weeks, ensuring the routines were perfected.
The ultimate prize in the 2016 show went to Killarney Garda Aoife Dolan and Liam Colleran and several couples will be hoping to follow in their footsteps on February 10.
