A supremely talented young gymnast from Killarney brought home a gold medal after competing at the competitive Gymstart gymnastics competition at Dublin’s National Indoor Arena.
Damon Murphy, who recently celebrated his eighth birthday, was in a category alongside 11 other competitors from all over the country but he made his mark in no uncertain terms and won the top prize in convincing fashion..
It was the second year in a row that Damon, a pupil in Faha National School, won the sought after national champion title and he did Kerry, his club, Douglas Gymnastics, and his trainer, Ollie, proud.
Damon also trained with his father, Danny, at Flares Gymnastics Club in Kerry and with his mother, Hayley, at Scorchers Cheerleading Killarney.
