KERRY’S Sinn Féin general election candidate has hit out at Fianna Fáil’s carbon tax plans and said that they will hit ordinary workers and families in Kerry.

Cllr Pa Daly said workers and families in Kerry have very little alternatives in respect of home heating and transport, yet Fianna Fáil has committed to levying an extra €640 million in additional carbon taxes on workers, families, farms and businesses over the next five years.

“This measure will hit workers and families in Kerry at a time when they need a break,”he said.

“Increasing taxes on workers and families is unfair and will not reduce emissions as it won’t change behaviour.

“Climate change has to be tackled by changing behaviour and providing alternatives, not hitting workers and families,” Cllr Daly remarked.
