THE annual Christmas Hamper Ride, organised by Killorglin Cycling Club, has been scheduled for Sunday, December 15 and participants have a choice of two distances – 75km or 50km.
The event will begin with a sign-in at the Killorglin Sports and Leisure Centre from 8.45am to 9.45am with the event rolling out at 1.000am. The entry fee is €15 for Cycling Ireland members and €20 for non-members.
Both routes follow the same roads through Killarney and on to Farranfore where the 50km riders will head for Milltown and home while those on the longer route stay on the new Tralee road until they turn onto the Farmers Bridge climb and make their way back to Killorglin.
The first riders back from the long distance and the short distance will receive hampers but there are also plenty of prizes to be raffled amongst the rest of the cyclists.
The event will be paced to ensure a fun day out and organiser Alan Jones said many riders return year after year and he is looking forward to seeing some very familiar faces once again.
