PEDAL power will be to the fore at an open night planned by Killarney Cycling Club to encourage new members, of all ages, to join.
The club said membership would be a great way to encourage a child who is showing an interest in cycling or adults who would like to cycle with supportive and knowledgeable groups of varied abilities.
It would also suit people hoping to cycle the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle that might feel they might not be able for it or those with an interest in mountain biking on Killarney’s scenic off-road trails or hard-core bike racing.
The open and registration event will be held in the Dromhall Hotel, Killarney on Thursday, January 30 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.
“The club is one of Ireland’s largest and most active, catering for all tastes and disciplines. There is a large and sociable leisure section with groups of different abilities,” said PRO Kerry Steadman.
“There is also a mentoring programme to help adults get back into cycling and it introduces them to cycling comfortably in a group on the road,” she added.
A dedicated youth academy within the club has qualified coaches who train children from 10 upwards and youth competitors usually feature at national championship level each year.
“A vibrant mountain bike section makes the best use of the beautiful landscape, both for leisure spins and various types of off-road racing for all age groups,” said Kerry.
