BEATEN by South Kerry in the 2015 Kerry Senior Football Championship final, Killarney Legion have stayed south to find their new senior team manager.

The club has confirmed that Kieran Cronin of St Michael’s Foilmore will succeed new Kerry Minor boss Peter Keane at the helm in Dirreen.

Having been involved in the background of St Michael Foilmore’s All-Ireland Intermediate success, Cronin stepped forward to spend three years as manager of his native club during which time they cemented their place in the top flight of the county league and won back-to-back South Kerry Championships.
After moving to work in Cork he took up the role of coach with the Macroom senior team and spent two years in that position.
The Ballinskelligs man is currently assisting Jack O’Connor in preparing the Kerry Under 21 squad players based in Cork.
In his own playing days Cronin suffered a career-ending neck injury in 2004, while playing with the Kerry Under 21 side, which necessitated an extended spell in hospital. Following his recovery, he maintained his passion for the GAA by getting involved in coaching.
A Legion spokesperson described Cronin as “a keen believer in the modern game and methods.”
His backroom team will be announced shortly.

Meanwhile, dedicated Legion clubman Enda Walsh has taken over as chairman of the club. At Friday night’s annual general meeting, he was elected to succeed Jimmy Reen who takes up the vice chair role.
