The family of a very popular Killarney man, who passed away last year after a battle with cancer, is honouring his memory by organising a fundraiser for a charity that was so good to him in his time of need.
Donal Cronin, from Curragh, Aghadoe, was just 62 years of age when died last July but his wife and children are hugely grateful for the support he received during his illness.
By means of gratitude and to give something back to the Irish Cancer Society, his sons, Adrian and Darren, are supporting the charity’s annual shave and dye initiative and are planning to dye their hair in return for donations.

With mum Eileen and their sister Elaine giving them every encouragement, the brothers have lined up the support of their pal, Colin Davidson, and he will help them to turn a beautiful shade of blonde, in the full glare of the public, at the Golden Nugget bar in Fossa on Sunday, May 25.
To add to the occasion, Kerry and Fossa stars Paudie and David Clifford have donated jerseys which will be raffled at the event to generate additional funds.
The Cronin family has set up a JustGiving online fundraising appeal and while they have already received over €5,000 in pledges, they are determined to raise as much as they can for such a good cause.
“We want to show appreciation for the exceptional care dad received throughout his battle. The brilliant services and care he received in the oncology units at University Hospital Kerry and Cork University Hospital was incredible and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts,” Adrian said.
“This is just our small way of giving something back and thanking the people who stood by and cared for dad, including the friends and neighbours he cherished and adored spending time with,” he added.
