Three former Dr Crokes footballers who were the first players from the club to win ladies’ Munster Championship medals are to be honoured this Friday night.
Mary O’Shea, Tricia O’Connor and Geraldine Fitzgerald were in the Kerry squad 1976 which was just two years after the LGFA was founded.
Mary is Dr Crokes royaltythe sister of the club’s senior men’s manager and former Kerry boss Pat O’Shea.
The Dr Crokes club is currently represented on the Kerry senior team by Kayleigh Cronin who was one of the stars of their All-Ireland Championship success – the county’s first victory for 31 years – and her performances have resulted in another All-Star nomination for the stylish defender.
Friday night’s celebratory event, which will commence at 7.30pm, is open to all.
