THE under 15 girls of Dr Crokes have been crowned Kerry B football champions after registering a tremendous victory over Beaufort in the final played at the Centre of Excellence in Currans.
Beaufort started brightest, taking an early two-point lead, but once captain Laura O’Carroll and Laura O’Shea took control at midfield, they fed some excellent ball in to the slick Dr Crokes forwards who took their opportunities well in the early stages.
With Katie McCarthy raising two green flags and Leah McMahon contributing a goal in this first period, Crokes went in at half time with a commanding lead of 3-8 to 1-4.
Beaufort took complete control over the next 20 minutes, however, reducing the deficit to just four points at one stage. But the Killarney defence, inspired by Emma Kelly, who produced a superb performance on the night, turned it completely around again for the last 10 minutes.
With Pia Hickey and Leah McMahon picking off points and two great goals in this period from Eimear Cronin, Crokes eventually pulled away to win comfortably.
The squad is is managed Karena O’Leary, Brendan O’Connor and Karl McMahon.
