DR Crokes will have an opportunity to get their five-in-a-row ambitions back on track when they take on Kenmare in the losers’ round of the Kerry senior football championship.

Martin Byrnes’ charges have been drawn against the divisional side who failed to fulfil their opening round clash with Dingle.

The game will be played at Lewis Road next Sunday at 2pm and Crokes will be hoping to make amends for their shock opening round loss to rampant Rathmore who tore the reigning champioms apart with an impressive display of fluent, attacking football.

The other Killarney town side, Legion, must travel to Castleisland on Saturday to take on St Kierans who were edged out by Mid Kerry in the opening round.

Legion will be hoping that players of the calibre of James O’Donoghue, Podge O’Connor, Jonathan Lyne and Conor Keane will have too much guile for St Kierans who will turn to the likes of Thomas Hickey, Padraig Reidy, Tom McGoldrick and Daniel O’Shea for inspiration.

Kilcummin miust await the replay of the West Kerry v Milltown-Castlemaine replay to determine who they will face in round two.

The replay is fixed for Wednesday at Austin Stack Park at 7.45pm and, depending on the result, the Kilcummin game will take place in either Castlegregory or Milltown on Sunday at 6pm.

Currow, stung by their two-point loss to St Michaels/Foilmore in the first round, will host St Brendans on Saturday at 7pm while, in the other losers’ round clash, Kerins O’Rahillys will fancy their chances against Feale Rangers when they meet in Strand Road on Sunday at 4pm.
