The annual Kerry Primary School Super Sevens Slam basketball event is reaching its climax with the commencement of the finals night, following eight weeks of intense group qualifiers and play-offs played before great support at the Presentation Gym in Killarney.
This year’s competition has seen participation from over 80 teams, involving over 900 players and coaches. Established in 2011, the event has grown in scale and excitement each year, becoming a highly anticipated highlight of the primary school sports calendar.
The Super Sevens Primary Schools are delighted to announce that the Kerry and West Limerick Credit Unions have become the new title sponsor to the annual basketball competition and, going forward, the competition will be known as the Credit Union Super Sevens.
The exciting partnership covers schools throughout the south west region and encompasses all areas served by the Kerry and West Limerick Credit Unions, including Killarney, Rathmore, Listowel, Abbeyfeale and Cara Credit Union.
The event aims to foster teamwork, sportsmanship and enthusiasm for basketball among primary school students.
Event co-ordinator David Ahern welcomed the support of the Kerry and West Limerick Credit Unions in promoting the values and helping to grow the sport in the community and he extended appreciation to the Credit Union and its marketing and business development manager, Karena McCarthy, for their support and commitment to youth sports development in the community.
The partnership will be officially launched at the upcoming finals commencing Thursday.
Schools involved include Fossa, Faha, Scartaglen, Currowm Kilgobnet, Nagle Rice, Holy Family Rathmore, Currow, Duagh, Raheen, Knockanes and Gaelscoil Faithleann.
