A small but production group of creative woman – who refer to themselves as Killarney’s Crafty Ladies – have joined forces to raise funds for the Kerry Hospice.

The aim is to rescue teddy bears from charity shops in Kerry, Cork, Limerick and as far away as Galway and the pre-loved cuddly toys are afforded a complete makeover.

The craft group meets once a month where they knit, sew and treat the battered bears to stylish new outfits ready for sales at Christmas

The revamped teddy bears, which make the ideal Christmas gift, range in price from €5 to €20 and they will be for sale at Killarney Outlet Centre on this Saturday, December 2nd and the following Saturday, December 9th. There is also a donation box available at the Outlet Centre.

The creative ladies raised €2,000 last year and to date over €25,000 has been raised for this very worthy cause.

The Killarney Crafty Ladies were established in 2013 when a group of eight friends – Betty Benson, Peg Coffey, Honor Doyle, Margaret McCarthy, Kate O’Connor, Brid O’Donoghue, Eilish O’Sullivan and Colette Sorensen – came together to raise funds for Kerry Hospice Foundation and the palliative care unit.
