Couples celebrate landmark anniversaries

With this ring I thee wed… and many years from now we’ll celebrate again back at the altar.

That was very much the case in St Mary’s Cathedral, Killarney on Saturday night as the parish hosted a very special ceremony for couples who are celebrating landmark wedding anniversaries this year.

Silver jubilee couples Paul and Tara O’Donoghue and Kieran and Amanda O’Brien with Killarney Parish Administrator Fr Kieran O’Brien

Killarney Parish Administrator, Fr Kieran O’Brien, celebrated an anniversary Mass after which the couples were invited to the presbytery for celebratory wedding cake and refreshments.

Pride of place on the night went to Bill and Maureen Purser of Toremore, Kilcummin who were celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary after 60 years of marriage.

Those celebrating 55 years of marriage were Maurice and Peg Coffey, Coolies, Muckross, Maurice and Pauline Kelly, Park Drive, Gerald and Peggy Landers, Ard Carrig, Lewis Road, Fred and Kathleen Kenny, Pinewood Estate and John and Betty McCarthy, Ardaneanig.

Golden jubilee couples celebrating 50 years as husband and wife were Albert and Phil Spillane, Park Drive, Patrick and Margaret Cronin, Ardshanavooley Estate, Patrick and Kathleen Quigley, Oughterard, Galway, Eamonn and Maura Fitzgearld, Inchicullane, Kilcummin, Billy and Honor Doyle, Woodlawn Park, John and Marie Murphy, Kilcoolaght Place, Mike and Beppie Tangney, Muckross Close, Malachy and Eileen Moynihan, Rockfield, Jim and Catherine Gleeson, Loreto Road, John and Nora Murphy, Madam’s Height, Aghadoe, Dermot and Bernie Lenihan,Inchicullane, Kilcummin, John Brendan and Kathleen Casey, Doonanmontane, Ballyheigue, Larry and Teresa O’ Halloran, Cliff Road, Dromature, Ballyheigueand John and Breda Dwyer, Dromhale Close.

45th wedding anniversary couples were Ray and Margaret O’ Riordan, Inchicullane, Kilcummin, Dony and Betty Kelly, Crosstown, Donie and Riona O’ Dowd, Dalton’s Avenue and Gerard and Ann Mangan, Kilbrean while couples celebrating 40 years of marriage were Brendan and Noreen Cronin, Ballyhar and Michael and Mary B Cronin, Coolroe East, Ballyhar.

Couples celebrating 35 years of marriage on the night were Andy and Sheila Goulding, Woodford Manor and Denis and Kay Carroll, Two Mile.

Couples who celebrate their 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, 45th, 50th, 55th and 60th wedding anniversaries with Parish Administrator Fr Kieran O’Brien

30th wedding anniversary couples were Kieran and Ann-Marie O’ Connor, Ballaugh, Beaufort, Martin and Pamela Walshe, Coolcorcoran, Patrick and Hann Majella O’Donoghue, Abbeycross, Muckross and Tally and Kellie Noble, Westerly RI, USA.

Silver jubilee couples, celebrating 25 years were Seán and Maria Casey, Clasheen, Paul and Tara O’Donoghue, Spa Cross, Upper Tiernaboul, Kieran and Amanda O’ Brien, Adderdare Lodge, Parkavonear, Aghadoe and Tom and Michelle Byrne, Upper Lewis Road.
