ANOTHER local elections candidate in the Killarney municipal area has spoken out against the erection of posters and billboards on roadsides throughout the constituency.
Cllr Seán Counihan said he will not be using posters in the coming weeks as he considers it to be a distraction that could lead to road safety concerns.
“These posters are an eyesore and impact on the natural beauty of the county,” he said.
Cllr Counihan said candidates erecting posters are undoing the hard work undertaken by volunteers in towns and villages who work tirelessly in preparation for the Tidy Towns competition and demonstrate a great pride of place.
Cllr Michael Gleeson and Cllr Tom Doherty have already indicated that they will not be using posters in the election campaign but several candidates have already snapped up as many key vantage points as possible to get their message across to the public.
