POSITIVE progress has been made with the proposed extension of a dangerous bridge on the N72 Rathmore to Barraduffroad, at Beheenagh.
A Part 8 planning process will come before the Killarney Municipal District next Wednesday and, once approved, the project can proceed for development.
Welcoming the news, Cllr Niall Kelleher said the bridge has been the scene of several accidents over the years but when it is widened, it will allow for the realignment of the road to make it safer for all road users.
“Living in Rathmore and working in Killarney I regularly use this stretch of road so I’m acutely aware of the importance of this realignment and the development of a lay-by,” Cllr Kelleher told KillarneyToday.com.
“It will also be of great relief to those who visit the iconic grotto on this stretch of road and I want to thank Kerry County Council for having the foresight to ensure project is brought to fruition,” he said.
