ONE Kerry pub has a simple message for the Boys in Green going into Sunday’s high-profile Last 16 game – drive on.
The crew at Connie K’s Bar in Rathmore is confident that Martin O’Neill’s charges have what it takes to overcome France and book their place in the quarter-finals of Euro 16.
And in a cheeky message that would give the host nation ta dose of the blues, they are showing their support for Ireland by painting a French manufactured car green, white and gold.
The Peugeot is parked proudly at the entrance to the pub and it will be the focal point right up to – and hopefully beyond – Sunday’s crunch tie.
“We’re getting a great reaction and people are enjoying the craic,” said Phil Verling who runs Connie K’s with Jeff Gordon.
“We painted the car ourselves on Thursday afternoon, starting at 3 o’clock and it was finished and parked up by 7 o’clock.
“It’s not the best paint job in the world and we are taking some stick for that but it will last until Sunday anyway and, hopefully, we’ll have to touch it up after that,” Phil said.
The car has even been fitted with a COYBIG (Come On You Boys In Green) registration plate and the Peugeot emblem has been painted in true Irish style.
