THERE has been a call for Transport Infrastructure Ireland to address a dangerous crossroads, where an average of 17,000 vehicles pass through every day, as a matter of urgency.
The dangers at the four crossroad junction in the middle of Farranfore village have been highlighted by Cllr Michael Cahill who said an urgent redesign of the junction is required.

“17,000 cars per day pass through this junction where the Killarney-Tralee road meets the Killorglin-Firies-Farranfore road and the Scartaglin-Currow-Farranfore road.
“Something needs to be done urgently before someone is seriously injured or killed” Cllr Cahill said.
He added that the road accommodated traffic from all parts of Kerry to and from Limerick as well as daily commuters between Killarney and Tralee and it is one of the busiest intersections in the county.
“Farranfore is a very important village. Along with Kerry Airport, it has a train station and a number of important businesses. It urgently needs a safer design for all our sakes,” Cllr Cahill stated.
He asked senior Kerry County Council officials to seek an urgent meeting with Transport Infrastructure Ireland so as to progress the matter.
