GREAT progress has been made with a significant road surface upgrade that has been ongoing in Killarney town centre since Tuesday.
College Street, Plunkett Street and the Glebe car park have all been off limits for drivers over the past three days to facilitate a tarmac overlay on College Street.
The council roads crew has worked at a very efficient pace to get the work dome as quickly as possible and the progress was such that both streets were open this Friday, well ahead of schedule, to allow traffic to pass through safely.
The works were scheduled to continue until next Tuesday but the streets and the car park will open this Saturday and Sunday when the town will be busier.
