
KILLARNEY sports personality James Fleming has been honoured by Basketball Ireland for the standards he is setting and the results he is achieving on the courts.
He was named Women’s Division One Coach of the Month for November for his exploits as head coach with Cork side Fr Mathews.
James scooped the top award at a time when his talented side remain unbeaten throughout all competitions this season. In the month of November. Fr Mathews defeated Meteors in the Champions Trophy and Marble City Hawks in the National Cup quarter-final as well as enjoying league wins over UL Huskies, Swords Thunder and Donegal.
A former Killarney superleague player and senior ladies’ head coach, James is also coach with the St Paul’s under 14 girls’ team. He is also well known as a former Dr Crokes senior football championship winning captain.
Fr Mathews, who include Caherciveen native Amy Fitzgerald in their line-up, also had star player Niamh Dwyer collecting the Player of the Month award.
Coach Fleming’s side remain top of the division one league and on course for promotion to the superleague.
James is the son of Tadhgie and Maureen Fleming, Lewis Road.
