Ross Golf Club in Killarney has launched a very important charity event that will raise much-needed funds for two very worthy local causes.

Club Captain, Donie Broderick, is spearheading the event in support of St Francis Special School in Beaufort and the Kerry Cancer Support Group and the charity outings will take place at the Ross Club on September 23/24.

St Francis Special School in Beaufort

Charity representatives Fiona Carroll and Elaine Kelliher from St Francis Special School, Beaufort and Breda Dyland from the Kerry Cancer Support Group were in attendance at the launch as was Terence Mulcahy from the main sponsor, Killarney Race Company, and some of the organising committee, Ross Golf Club members and supporters.

Fiona Carroll said St Francis Special School is constantly in need of funds to provide services for its students and this year’s focus is to fund a full-time speech and language therapist based in the school.

Breda Dyland of the Kerry Cancer Support Group, said the golf outing is great, not alone for the funds raised, which are always welcome, but also for the awareness raised.

All raised will go towards funding a wheelchair accessible bus for the Kerry/Cork route.

Teams of four for the charity days will cost €160 and tee box sponsorship is available at €50.
