Club confident culprits will be identified

Some of the ugly graffiti daubed on the wall of the stand

A GAA club has been targeted by vandals who have defaced several areas in the ground, including the walls of the main stand, with ugly graffiti.

Legion GAA Club posted snapshots of the damage on social media and club members have been asked to be extra vigilant now that the evenings are darker

The graffiti, in black spray paint or ink, was daubed on the back and side walls of the stand at Dirreen.

The matter has been reported to the gardai and CCTV footage from the ground is currently being examined in an attempt to track down the culprits.

“We are confident that we will be able to identify the persons responsible for this latest act but it’s vital that this cannot go on any further in the future,” the club said.

Members have been asked to inform club officials if they see anyone who is not a member engaging in non-club activity around the grounds.

The Legion playing fields are immediately adjacent to the Killarney Celtic FC grounds which was targeted by vandals last week.

Perspex panels in the dug-outs were smashed and an attempt was also made to set fire to the structures.
