THE legendary Christy Moore will headline this year’s Folkfest in Killarney, it has been confirmed.
Damien Dempsey and The Waterboys will also be on the star-studded bill for the bumper weekend of top quality live entertainment on July 8-10.
Christy Moore will take to the stage on the Saturday night, signalling a return to his roots having recorded the famous Ride On album in Killarney July 1986.
Damien Dempsey headlines on Friday night with 198’s favourites The Waterboys penciled in for Sunday night. Other confirmed acts over the weekend include traditional flute genius, Mike McGoldrick who has just completed a world tour with Dire Straits legend Mark Knopfler, and fiddle player and composer, Colm Mac Con Iomaire, formerly of the Frames.
Also Killarney bound will be Maria Doyle Kennedy and sean-nós singer Iarla Ó Lionáird of The Gloaming, who has recently been the subject of great acclaim for his cameo appearance in the movie blockbuster Brooklyn.
