RUNAWAY teenager Chloe Palmer is on her way home to her family.
She was found by Gardaí in Donegal late last night and they said she was safe and well.
She had earlier made contact with her sister after reading a plea for her to come home on KillarneyToday.com and she also telephoned Killarney Garda Station to assure them that she was fine.
16-year-old Chloe hadn’t been seen since she left her family home in Kilgarvan in the early hours of last Wednesday, August 3.
Garda launched an investigation into her disappearance and a public appeal was issued for any information that might have helped to track her down.
A student at Phobail Scoil Inbhear Sceine in Kenmare, she left home in the early hours of the morning and she brought two bags of clothes and other belongings with her. She was in her bedroom at midnight but her mother discovered she was gone shortly after 6 o’clock the following morning.
When Chloe telephoned her sister, Martina, in Offaly on Thursday, Gardaí were able to trace her whereabouts through mobile phone masts and they tracked her down.
Her uncle, David Foran, confirmed to KillarneyToday.com last night that she had been found and that she was fine.
Chloe’s father, Willie Palmer, said he was so relieved that she has been located and that she was fine.
“The worry was unreal. You wouldn’t put anyone through this,” he said.
“We will sit down and talk to her. We were all young once and we made mistakes,” he added.
Mr Palmer praised the efforts of Gardaí in Kenmare, Killarney and Donegal and he reserved particular gratitude for Garda Mark O;Sullivan in Killarney who was an enormous support.
